Day Intensive Academic English Program Minimize

You will study conversation, listening comprehension skills, grammar, vocabulary and writing. The Intensive English Program is made up of small and friendly classes. This ensures that you will have many opportunities to speak, ask questions, and have your mistakes corrected. Classes are very mixed, with students coming from all parts of the world. Meet students from a variety of cultures and countries, and make friends for life.

TOEFL preparation is available to students at the advanced level. (NOTE: We offer TOEFL preparation -- not TOEIC --  because the majority of our students wish to take the academic-related test, not the business-related one.)

Spoken English is emphasized in all classes. You will learn grammar in context, by using it in speaking and writing. You will practice your grammar by doing exercises and written essays at home as well as practicing using the language in class.

All students are tested, interviewed, and placed in the appropriate level class for each subject area. For example, if you do well in speaking, but need more help in grammar, your conversation class will be at a higher level than your grammar class.

The Intensive English Program is accelerated. This means that students may advance through the levels at any pace. You can move to the advanced level as quickly as possible, and you won't have to wait for the end of a term. You can start at a beginning level and graduate from the advanced level in just 6 months.

We only hire teachers who are experienced, friendly, and sensitive to cultural differences. Their expertise will help you learn at a quick pace and enjoy the experience. Small classes ensure that you will get to know your instructors on a personal level and feel comfortable asking them any questions you may have about American life and culture.

Field trips are free for Intensive English Program students. Activities include professional soccer, baseball, American football or basketball games. Students can ski in the winter and camp or take raft trips on the Colorado River in the summer. Activities may also include movies at the school, museums and concerts, or just volleyball and a picnic in the park with your classmates. We want you to make friends and enjoy your time here at Colorado School of English!

The Intensive English Program allows open entry and open exit. You can begin any Monday and finish any time. Some students come to Colorado School of English to study for 2 weeks; others stay for a full year. Most students pay tuition every 4 weeks until they have reached their language goals.
