In the United States, the F visas are a type of non-immigrant student visa that allows foreigners to pursue education (academic studies and/or language training programs) in the United States. F-1 students must maintain a full course of study.
A full-time course at CSE consists of 20 hours per week. You cannot register for part-time courses if you have F-1 status. You must attend classes with a F-1 visa. If you don't report to school or if you have too many absences, your visa may be canceled by the immigration.
To study as an F-1 student in the United States you need a Form I-20, "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Status." Do you know what it is and why it is important?Only a certified school "Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)" can issue the I-20 form so you can apply for a F1 student visa in the USA. A designated school official (DSO) at Colorado School Of English will give you the I-20 form and a letter of acceptance.
With the I-20, you can apply for a F-1 visa. I-20 and F-1 visa are linked but are two different things: the I-20 shows that you are registered to a school in the USA. You also need a F-1 visa to travel to the USA. You must provide at the border, a valid I-20 stamped and signed, and a valid F-1 visa on your passport.
To receive an I-20 from our school you need to be a full time student and study 20 hours a week.
Make a scan of the identification pages of your passport.
Your passport must be valid for at least one year after you apply.
A bank statement is required by the US Embassy to show you can afford to pay your tuition and living expenses while in the USA.
CSE requires $1600 per month of study ( tuition and living expenses). For example if you plan to study 6 months, you need $1600 x 6 = $9600 in your bank account.
The bank statement must be in US currency. If not, please convert the amount in US dollars and sign it.
You need an affidavit of support if the bank statement is not in your name.
Your sponsor (parents or friend) will have to sign an affidavit of support and join it to his bank statement.
You can download this form here: http://www.englishamerica.com/Affidavit of Support.doc
Once you have a copy of your passport, bank statement and/or affidavit of support, you are ready to register!
